What is a stairlift?

A stairlift is a lifting system, also called a stairlift or mechanical lift, for people with mobility and accessibility problems, and is used on all types of stairs that present architectural barriers.

What type of stairlift or platform lift is best for my staircase?

We offer a wide range of elevation systems, such as stairlifts, inclined or vertical platform lifts, etc… Our sales representatives will advise you on which model and type of stairlift will be the best for your staircase, both technically and aesthetically. This will depend on the staircase, for example the width of the staircase, whether it is straight or curved, weight of the user, interior or exterior of the house, etc… The Salvatec sales technician can make a sketch of the staircase to determine which model/type of stairlift is most suitable for your staircase. Salvatec works in partnership with a worldwide network of suppliers of stairlift, accessibility and mobility systems. We are the first to seek advice on stairlift installation from our manufacturers when it is a very difficult spiral staircase or a very narrow staircase.

Will I have to paint the walls of my staircase after installation of the stairlift?

The stairlift is installed on the steps of the staircase by means of brackets screwed to the steps and not to the wall, so there is no need to redecorate anything after the installation of the stairlift is completed.

What happens if I want to change or renovate the staircase slab or carpet but I have installed the stairlift?

There is nothing to worry about, our installation technicians will dismantle the stairlift and once the staircase has been renovated it will be installed again.

What is a stairlift for and who can use it?

Stairlifts are usually requested/installed more frequently in private homes with accessibility or mobility problems. Thanks to Salvatec, people with disabilities can easily go up or down the stairs in their home that present an architectural barrier. Our customers also tend to be hotels, shops, banks, restaurants, sports centres, children’s playgrounds, pensioners’ homes, pharmacies, town halls, etc…

What happens to my stairlift or platform lift if there is a power cut?

There is no reason to worry. All Salvatec stairlifts work with batteries that are incorporated inside the stairlift. After each use, the stairlift will remain parked in one of the charging points (parking), thanks to these charging points the batteries will be automatically charged so that the stairlift is always ready for the next use. In the event of a power failure, the stairlift will have autonomy for about 8-12 trips.

What happens if the stairlift is outside the battery charging point?

In this case the stairlift emits acoustic and visual signals. These signals will warn you that the stairlift is not in a charging contact or there is a power failure. The power supply must always be connected to the stairlift, otherwise the stairlift batteries will be completely discharged and may need to be replaced with new ones.

What do I do if the stairlift does not work?

If the stairlift does not work you should call the technical service of the installation company (in this case it is Salvatec) and the technical service will come free of charge to fix the fault as long as the stairlift is under warranty.

What do I do if the chair is faulty but out of warranty?

If you have a stairlift that is out of warranty or under warranty but the installation company does not contact you for any reason, no problem… At Salvatec we offer repair and maintenance services for all the major brands of stairlifts, such as: Handicare, Platinum, Acorn, Access, EP-STEPPER, Extrema, Lehner Lifttechnik, Stannah, ThyssenKrupp – Flow 2, Vimec, etc…

Is the maintenance of stairlifts compulsory?

It is not compulsory, but it is strongly recommended by our manufacturer. A stairlift or platform lift that does not pass its annual revisions is very likely to suffer a breakdown in 3-4 years, while a stairlift that passes the revision every year can give a service of up to 25 years.

What is a swimming pool lift and what is it for?

The swimming pool lift is a system that works with water pressure. The aquatic lift is installed in all types of swimming pools in order to be used by people with disabilities, pregnant women, elderly people, etc…

What is needed to install a swimming pool lift?

For its installation you only need a water supply with a minimum pressure of 3,5 b.

Is the swimming pool lift easy to install?

Yes, in comparison to other pool stairlift models, our aquatic stairlift does not require any building work for installation, it is simply screwed in place with three metal concrete plugs.

Is the swimming pool lift resistant to corrosion and weathering?

Yes, the aquatic stairlift manufactured and distributed by Salvatec is made entirely of stainless steel and this allows it to operate with a guarantee of up to 25 years.
